 Hammurabi

A stele is a type of marker-stone. The Assyrian king Hammurabi had many of these stelae carved to display his Law Code around his empire. This image shows the top of one of these stelae. This stele dated to c. 1792-1750 BC, is seven feet tall and on the top is the figure of the seated god, Shamash, who dictates the law to a waiting ruler.
