The FLYING WING

Ammo Yousif

Ammo Yoseph, a fine soccer figure who played from 1967-1970 for the Army Third Division team and from 1976-1978 for the Iraqi Air Force (1st Div.).

His star was twinkling from the beginning of his career and he was so skilled and energetic that he was selected in 1970 to play for the Iraqi national teams alongside with Iraqi soccer stars such as Saheb Ghazaal, Hassan Balah, Douglas Aziz, Gilbert Awekam, Shedrak Yoseph, Ali Kazam, and many others.

Ammo Yoseph participated in three international military soccer championships: The first was played in Baghdad, Iraq in 1972 where the Iraqi team achieved the championship; the second in Syria in 1977, where the Iraqi team achieved the championship for the second time; and the third in the Kongo Brazzaville, where the Iraqi team took the second place to the Italian team.

Ammo played two seasons for the famous Lebanese soccer team racing from 1971-1972. He was distinguished as a swift player and offensive forward. It is worth mentioning that at that time the famous Iraqi soccer giant Gilbert Sammy was playing for Al-Istereal team for which he was working as a coach as well.

Ammo Yoseph worked from 1979 as the assistant coach for the Iraqi Air Force team along with great Yugoslavian coach Voia Verdovitch and he is at present working as a coach for the Air Force Soccer Club.
