Between my uncle and home
This afternoon, we said our last goodbye to uncle Adam... tucked in his royal suit, laid peacefully in a fancy coffin, along with songs and prayers, was sent to meet our Holy Father... wept for his departure, brought him flowers to take with him to heaven, how lucky some of us are... I wonder who cried for those Assyrians in the mountains of Bet Nahrain and the plains of Semel... who were left on the hillsides to meet their creator ... shivering bodies, hungry and alone... who wept for those infants ? orphans left in the meadows of our raped land... tombs erected with the bones of our beloved on beds of dirt and stone... Oh, my little ones I wept you too and still do... in my deepest self my sole will meet yours all, some day, in that piece of land named Assyria the glorious, where, together hand in hand we will pass through those ancient fields and gaze forever at that rising sun... from that place called HOME
